One thing's for sure: This EP comes out full force, pounding hard with a modern hard alt-rock vibe. It's crunchy, full of angst and if you're ready for a hard rock ride, 3 Pill Morning's "Life Dynamic EP" should fit the bill.
I can't say that was the ride I was hoping for when I popped in this disc, but I also can't say just because it's not what I want to hear, others might not like it. I guess I've gotten too old or just feel alt-rock bands are a dime a dozen, but the excitement's left when I hear loud, roaring bar chords being banged out to sung/rapped lyrics. With that said, there's an audience out there for 3 Pill Morning and there are good moments on the disc.
The track "Take You Over" had a cool lead guitar part and its melody was more enticing than the opening number, "Pretty Women Syndrome" (the disc has both an original and clean version of the track). "Addiction" also struck a chord with me with its tight breakdowns. The track "Held" started out strong and less abrasive than the other tracks, but midway through, the rock came in and sort of lost me. But on the flip side, I'm sure it's the part their fans are waiting for the song to build up to. I did get confused with "Hesitate (Matty B Remix);" I assume the original was harder because the remix is a mellow number.
Sometimes there are good discs, but they simply aren't what you're in to - and I'd slide this EP in that category. I can dig it musically, but I'm not buying the rapping over the more subtle arrangement. I just didn't get that one. NH
