Some bands just write songs, and some bands write songs that become the soundtrack to your life. Quietdrive, a pop-rock power-house, can definitely be grouped with the latter. Their hit single, "Rise from the Ashes" is an anthem that sticks with you long after listening. They call Minneapolis home, but the entire nation has been their playground over the past few years; an upshot of extensive touring. They have been on the road nonstop for the past four months with bands such as Ludo, Dropping Daylight (Octone Records), Treaty of Paris, The Dog and Everything, and others. They are not planning on slowing down anytime soon, with shows booked into the summer. This time they will be joined by Daphne Loves Derby (Outlook Records) and Waking Ashland (Tooth and Nail Records) as they conquer the West Coast and southern United States.
Their new album comes out near the end of May and they've been doing everything possible to generate excitement for the release. This includes a recent show in Springfield, IL where they joined up with alt-rockers 311 (Volcano/Jive Records), to the delight of the 2000 people in attendance. They've been hard at work back home as well, with a sold out show at the Varsity Theater in Dinkytown in January. Along with local friends Dropping Daylight and The Semester they played for 600, with over 200 left outside trying to get in.
A great way to quench your Quietdrive thirst is to visit their interactive, multimedia website www.quietdrivemusic.com. It contains many entertaining features, such as a music player, photo gallery, and easily viewable music video for "Rise from the Ashes." If the website just doesn't do it for you, be sure to catch them in the Ascot Room May 12th for their much anticipated return to the city they love most. They'll be playing with Ludo and Socratic (Drive Thru Records/No Milk Records). Also, keep your eyes open for their acoustic and Live EP, coming out soon as a precursor to their full length album release in May. This band is on their way to something big. Backed by major label Epic records, the possibilities are endless.
