Kill The Vultures - Self-Titled
by Brady O'Rourke

With simple, crude loops and well-experienced MCs leading the way, the debut from Kill The Vultures manages to intrigue listeners, while at the same time introducing a new sound to the Minnesota music scene. Armed with the experience of MCs Nomi, Crescent Moon and Advizer, the group comes up with something much greater than the simple loops and production by Anatomy could ever show: A breath of fresh air into the hip-hop scene.

Clocking in at just under 32 minutes, the quartet uses almost every second to the fullest with catchy, dark production and original, emotional poetry. It’s hard to miss any aspect of the musical journey they provide the listener with.

Though the CD works best when listened to from start to finish, “7-8-9” may be the easiest to access for listeners, as it sounds most like other music. With the group’s unique sound and original, off-beat concept, don’t expect something as straightforward as other local groups such as Atmosphere or Heiruspecs.
You’ll have to work a little for this one, but if you’re willing to go along for the ride, you’ll enjoy this work of art. BO
