Week of 7/24/06
A batch of new CDs came in:
Ecid "Biograffiti" from Fill In The Breaks is a hip-hop release. I like the way Ecid uses his vocal styling to his advantage, it makes it stand out. The CD release is this Saturday, and you check out the full info on this weeks Rift E-Newsletter.
Woodcat - Self Titled - This is an interesting CD which looks very much like a downhome folk CD from the artwork. The music is far from it, while it does sometimes twang it also does some exploration that I wasn't expecting.
Brian Whitson and The Night Wolves - "Onward, Young Mennonites!!" - Some low fi folk music, plain and simple.
The Men Who Control The Weather - "We Own The Skies" - Somewhere between punk, metal and indie.
decembers architects - ",apiary ennui and curosias. The Brew Shakes" - Labeled as indie but more like art indie. A CD release show is happening on August 13th at the Hexagon.
Superhopper - "Party Killers" - on Guilt Ridden Pop. Superhopper is not really flashy or fancy. They just rock!
Tony Pucci - "Unfolding" - Heyday Records - This is Tony's first label release but he has written over 1000 original songs.
The God Damn Doo Wop Band - "Broken Hearts" - Afternoon Records - It is finally come full circle for TGDDWB, 8 tracks of Doo Wop done awesomely well.
Your Loving Tiger - "What Gives" - Great packaging and an interesting organic sound this CD should spark some local interest.
Stay tuned for more fun stuff.
