First off, one of my favorite indie pop bands – Mighty Fairly are releasing their new album “Big Words and Power Chords” which was reviewed by Rift recently. They also were the winners in the last Rift 36 Hour Songwriting Contest, and also did a video for the song within a week of writing the song. Catch them at Bunkers this Friday.

Local lo-fi folkies, Absent Arch who has one member who used to write for Rift back in the day on Trumpet, Guitar and some other instruments is releasing an album this Friday at the Triple Rock. They also scored a City Pages article, which is impressive. Thank goodness for Andrea Swensson and her local music coverage.

You can’t say enough about Trampled By Turtles who’s newest release is coming out Friday with a bluegrass blow out at First Avenue. Can you really say a Bluegrass band can rock! If it’s Trampled By Turtles you can, and they will.
